Problems At Hand

WASTE MISMANAGEMENT

There is a pressing need for enhanced waste management practices in our nation. Significant efforts are needed to instigate a shift in people's attitudes toward proper waste disposal and promote healthy habits. While the SWM Rules 2016 establish specific laws for waste management, there is a notable lack of awareness and implementation observed at the grassroots level.

LIVELIHOOD CHALLENGES : INCLUSIVITY

The prevailing challenges in India's socioeconomic landscape underscore the urgent need to address and enhance the livelihoods of the underprivileged, particularly women and informal waste workers, such as ragpickers. A complex interplay of marginalization inhibits the potential contribution of women to community development. Simultaneously, informal waste workers face systemic issues, including inadequate recognition and compensation for their labor.

POOR MENSTRUAL HEALTH & HYGIENE

A significant challenge in India is the fact that over 88% of women resort to using homemade and unsafe products for menstrual management. This alarming situation highlights the urgent need to challenge the prevailing status quo and initiate efforts to break the pervasive silence surrounding menstruation.

Objectives

To provide solutions for sustainable waste management systems based on the principles of Circular Economy

To break the long-standing stigma around menstruation, change cultural beliefs and social attitudes and with sufficient awareness, let menarche not be a reason for girls to drop out of education.

To empower the underprivileged, with a particular emphasis on women, recognizing that investing in women as entrepreneurs, community builders, and civic leaders is a powerful means of transforming our world and fostering sustainable livelihoods.
