Waste Management

Waste management in India is a significant challenge due to factors such as population growth, urbanization, and changes in consumption patterns. The country produces approximately 62 million tonnes of municipal solid waste per year, of which only 43 million tonnes are collected and just 11.9 million tonnes are treated. While the government has implemented initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to address this issue, there is still a need for further improvements in waste segregation, collection, and disposal systems, public awareness, and sustainable waste management technologies.

Uboontu Foundation is working to improve waste management in India through various initiatives. Our focus is on promoting sustainable waste management practices, such as composting, recycling, and waste segregation, and providing training and support to local communities, schools, and organizations. We collaborate with municipalities and governments to develop effective waste management policies and regulations, and advocate for the use of innovative technologies like biogas plants, composting and waste-to-energy systems to reduce waste and produce renewable energy.

In addition, we conduct research and awareness campaigns to educate the public about the significance of proper waste management and the environmental and health hazards associated with improper disposal.

Our programs and initiatives are aligned with the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, and we are making our contribution towards tackling the waste management issue in India while promoting a sustainable and cleaner future.
